WHAT TO EXPECT DURING TREATMENT
A typical visit begins with taking a full case history. Your osteopath will ask about your chief complaint and also any other relevant information that may help in forming an accurate diagnosis. Your osteopath will then proceed to examine your general posture and range of motion. You may also be asked to perform certain movements against resistance to test your strength.
Examination and treatment is usually performed with the patient fully clothed; please wear light or comfortable clothing. No two treatments are ever the same as people use their bodies in very different ways. Your osteopath will explain the technique that is to be performed on you, please let me know if you do not wish to have a certain technique performed on you, as there are always alternatives. Techniques that may be performed include soft tissue, hvla joint manipulation, muscle energy technique, articulation, dry needling, functional, BLT and biodynamic osteopathy. I do not offer dry needling.
Generally, you would expect to see some improvement within 2 to 4 treatments. Chronic conditions tend to require more support and ongoing treatment, in conjunction with exercise and lifestyle changes where applicable. Some people find regular monthly treatments helpful in keeping their bodies pain-free and functioning at its best.
